The Ultimate Shell Seeker's Guide: Shell Hunting and Fossil Workshop
Join nationally recognized shark tooth and shelling expert Dr. Ashley Oliphant for a fun interactive children’s workshop that will teach participants how to hunt, where to hunt, and how to identify species. The session will include show-and-tell of shark, whale, and dinosaur fossils, along with many species of seashells. The group will learn about how fossils are formed and explore what it means to be a responsible beachcomber who protects wildlife and preserves the natural environment. The session will conclude with a 10-minute fossil dig, and attendees will get to keep the seashells and shark teeth that they find. Afterward, Dr. Oliphant will sign her books, “The Ultimate Shell Seeker’s Guide: Building a Better Beachcombing Strategy” and “Shark Tooth Hunting on the Carolina Coast."
This event will be hosted in the Storytime Room.
