Gullah Geechee History and Culture

Join Dr. Joyce White, Interim Director of the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Center, for a special presentation. When one hears the term “Gullah Geechee” images of strange dialects, singing, and storytellers who live in a small coastal town come to mind. This interactive presentation will delve into the history, life, and culture of Gullah Geechee people.

Dr. Joyce White is a Professor of English, Gullah Geechee Literature & Cultures, and the Interim Director of the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Center at Georgia Southern University. She is also the author of Ecology Spirituality and Cosmology in Edwidge Danticat: Crossroads as Ritual.
