Tales of Family and Fun from Under the Baobab Tree

Master storyteller Lillian Grant-Baptiste presents captivating folktales for the whole family to enjoy!

The Baobab tree is an ancient symbol of strength and resiliency. The Baobab is often referred to as “The Tree of Life” and it has a lifespan of three thousand years. In certain parts of traditional Africa, it was often under the shade and shelter of the mighty Baobab that learning and wisdom gathering took place.   It was the place where children and families gathered to laugh, sing, and play games. It is also the space where the elders convened to share stories, proverbs and to pass down lessons and teach and reinforce village values. It was a place of joy, sharing, family, fun, but most of all it is the place where the imagination was free and allowed to flourish. This program has been developed specifically to mimic the space that was traditional found beneath the Baobab tree, and to prick the imagination and foster family unity, fun and creativity. It promises to be a celebration of family that will not soon be forgotten.
